Good videos on wedding photography? - 05-18-2010, 09:44 AM

I have my first 3 weddings booked in the next 30 days and I'm looking for interesting videos on wedding photography.

Now before TC, Capt. Tom, or any other zealots rightfully jump in to rain on my parade let me confirm the following...

I have looked on Google...(overwhelming and pointless)
I have searched this forum...(found a few good sources)
I have looked on YouTube and other video sites...(found a few good sources)
I have looked on other forums...(found a few good sources)
I have several books on wedding photography...(read them all)

...and most importantly, as there is no substitute for experience...

I've shot portraiture for years. I've been the second shooter for 3 weddings this year. And I am quite comfortable with my ability and my equipment.

So what am I asking for? Note I said "interesting" videos. What I'm looking for is "virtual experiences" where I can watch videos to absorb what's going on. In fact, I'd really prefer "over the shoulder" sort of reportage/documentary videos rather than any formal/formulary training videos.

Here is a good example: Flow Posing

Apart from the merits of flow posing, this is the type of video I'm looking for. Maybe a little long, but you get the idea: fast paced, informal, where-the-rubber-meets-the-road presentation.

Hopefully this makes sense - if not please post a question so I can clarify.

Oh, and by the way: much love to TC, CT and all the other zealots!!!

I've never watched a video. While I don't agree with all his points, David Ziser's book Captured By The Light is a great read for a wedding photographer of any level.

He is all about off-camera flash and gives a lot of good insight into how to properly use it at a wedding.

He is also very traditional, which is very different from my style. But he does well, and is a good photographer and businessman. I wouldn't copy his style, but I have begun using some of his techniques.

The last program I saw him do at IUSA, he was all about on camera flash and bouncing it off walls and ceilings to give just a hint of frontal lighting. I think he has changed his style a bit recently.

He goes over bounce flash a lot as well.

Just admonishes the use of direct flash.

There are alot of them out there. I don't have the websites but you should be able to find them by googling their name.

Babbi Cantrell has a video on weddings and posing

Jerry Ghionis has several ones
Joe Photo
Joe Buissink
Yervent
David Beckstead
Dennis Reggie The father of PJ style wedding photgraphy
Several of the ones above are in a dvd called Masters of Wedding Photography

Also check out Photovision they have a lot of different options this may be your best bet.
