Album Details - 07-27-2010, 04:03 PM

How do you guys typically iron out all the album details? When I say "iron out" I mean how do you make them formal? I'm sure you don't specify all the details in the original contract. I hope to book a wedding tonight with an album and the contract just states that it will be a 15-Spread 10x10 Signature Album. She's aware of all the swatches and options (including upgrades).

Do you have a separate album checklist that is gone over, agreed upon, and signed at a later date?

Thanks,
BHurdle

I give an album credit and iron out the specifics when it is time to design it.

For my albums I list the style (leather, premium leather, cameo cover, etc), size and the number of spreads in the contract. Now once we have gone through the wedding and done the album predesign they can upgrade their album (style, number of spreads, etc) and those details are tracked via email and invoice. Just prior to sending the album out for production the client will get a final proof email with a pdf of the layouts, the exact specifications of the album, and any names and spellings. Once they respond to that email with a "Approved for Production" the album is sent out. That final email is critical as it spells out exactly what they will get and if there are ANY questions or changes a new email is sent that outlines everything again.

I do mine a little different, I have the basic 20 spread option 8 x 8 flush

Then I have upgrade packages and they go something like this..

Level 1 upgrade 32 sides, 3 x 3 cameo

Level 2 upgrade 32 sides, 4 x 4 cameo, upgrade leather

Level 3 upgrade 50 sides, 4 x 4 cameo, Top grade leather, carrying case

Takes the guess work out of it all. The you just show her the different ones, upsell without changing the size of the album. (unless she wants bigger) Plus all my upgrade prices are the same no matter what size album.

Mamiya 645 AFD, Canon 1V, Contax G2/G1, Canon 5D x 2, 24L, 50L, 85 1.8, Sekor 80 1.9, Zeiss 45 2.0, Zeiss 28 2.8 and whole lotta light and stuff.
