Props to David...Very sneaky. If not, then the dummy session should work, just find out where he plans to pop the question so you can be in a prime location based on time and other people. As far as a lense goes, a 1.4x or 2x extender is pretty small when added to a 70-200. Just remember that it also multiplies your aperature as well. Just a thought.

Have him tell her he has a photographer friend that needs some help, and you are going to shoot the 2 of them for your port. Then arrange in the "shoot" to distract her, enough he can pull the ring out :)
Maybe David secretly works for the CIA http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...-jobs-huh.html

You can use Combination of two.

Setup dummy session. while you are taking pictures Groom can walk in with her and talk to you as he knows you , handshake some chit-chat. Then on time he can propose her and she will not get a hint at all.

if you just setup like David said then there is a chance that she might get a hint and it will ruin your perfect face expression that she is going to have when it is unexpected.

Definitely check with the groom but there's a chance (if he's anything like me) that he wants the proposal to be special and intimate and whatnot and not want the pretense of a photoshoot as the moment he proposes.

Good luck!
