Ok so I'm wanting to get into wedding photography. I have been doing portrait work for a while now. I know how to use the camera, I shoot manual and have the Canon 7D. No, I'm not perfect or the best but I am a fast learner. I am working on building up my lens gear. Currently I only have the 50mm 1.4. I just sold all my Nikon to go back to Canon so I'm a bit behind right now. I can always rent until I can afford to buy the ones I really want. I would just like to find a mentor to tag along with. I've tried to email a few that I really like and no response. I understand some photographers don't want to share their secrets and I'm not looking for that. I just would like to spend some time with someone who know's what they are doing so I can learn too. Anyone interested I would much appreciate it!

Well, 2nd shooting isn't really for "learning" (I know we are all always learning). I need my 2nd shooters to be able to stand on their own and I need to know I can trust that since they aren't going to be with me the whole time. I would start first (and it sounded like this is what you are trying to do) is to be a tag-along or assistant first and then move up to 2nd shooting once you have a wedding portfolio you can share.

I post often looking for this position either here or on my FB fan page for portrait sessions and weddings and I see quite a few others do too. Right now I am little slower than I was through the fall. I don't have any weddings going on right now. I have some portrait sessions, but there you don't get to shoot as much since you are helping with lighting. Weddings you have more freedom to do some actual shooting.

Lyncca I think you are stalking me now! lol :) I wish you were still having your workshop next month! I guess what I do mean is to be a tag along first. I have shot a few weddings before with another photographer but would like someone who is a little more expereienced. I would love to come help you with some shoots if you need anyone. I keep updated with you facebook page. Thanks for the response! :)
