Ladies who shoot long hours on the weekends: what shoes do you wear?
My crazy comfortable $10 Old Navy flats are ready to give up the ghost and I know I can't find another pair like them (have tried). | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I'm not sure of your style, but the above 2 pairs of shoes mentioned are a little too casual for me to shoot a wedding. I have a pair of Josef Seibel black lace-ups in combination with Dr. Scholl's inserts and I can usually go nearly the whole 8 hours without pain (depending on the floor surface) and no pain the following day. Mine are similar to these: Josef Seibel 'Sander' Oxford | Nordstrom
I also have some slip on black flats with a nice rubber bottom that are very comfy by themselves but if I am outside sweating, they will leave blisters.
Both pair were fairly expensive ($75+) but completely worth it after shooting and being in SEVERE pain the night of the wedding followed by 2-3 days after.

I found some nicer Merrells that I can pull of as dress. Not as nice as TC's Maddens though.

For almost 3 years, I haven't typically worn shoes 90% of the time (except in the office at corporate America, and around those who have phobia of feet). I've found that my back and knee pain I used to have went away, and my legs, ankles, and feet got stronger. I even hike trails, and run barefoot! When I have to wear shoes, I usually wear Vibram Five Fingers.
The most comfortable for me is the KSO model.
The shoe I wear most to work is the KSO Trek (Kangaroo Leather). These are made for trail running, but go surprisingly well with a pair of khakis or jeans (as all of their models do).

I have a heel spur in my left foot too, which is why I had such extreme pain (as well as in my knees, etc.), so I for sure feel your pain on that one. It sucks.

i didn't think you were judging me, so all is good. my reeboks ARE all black though, so they go well with my black attire.
here is a thought for everyone to ponder... is there another industry around though calls for wearing 'dress' shoes when you will be on your feet for 8+ hours? i'm just wondering.
i might even consider wearing more traditional shoes during the actual weddings, then switching to the reeboks during the reception. it's usually dark-ish, they prevent slips from spilled drinks on the floor, and are no more tacky than all the bridesmaids taking their shoes off for dancing.
thoughts? | | | |

I recently have listened to the advice of a lot of chefs and nurses and went for some clogs. They can be dressy, although aren't the most beautiful shoes in the world. Very comfy though. I bought Sanita (Dansko is another popular brand). I didn't want to drop the $120 at first, but my feet are so much happier now at the end of the night.
