Need a little help with a wedding.. - 04-22-2011, 06:23 PM

Well, something has come up on me that I'm not 100% sure I'm ready for.

I recently posted on CL to try and pull some clients to update my portfolio. I left the game for a little while and I was trying to revamp because I have since then gotten better.

I just got a lead today for a wedding. I tagged along for 2 weddings a good while ago but I haven't shot one since then. It was a good while ago but I still do not think I am ready to shoot one alone.

What I am asking is if someone can take this lead but let me 2nd for you or whatever. I would just like to make a few dollars and get the exp as well.

Details :

Date: June 25th
Time: 2 hours
Where: Crown Plaza

David, you have GREAT GEAR (NIKON) first of all which makes it that much easier!
I would be more than happier to help out, that's if no one has PM'ed you already?

Shoot me a # to call you on?

Thanks for the offers guys.
After talking to her and getting much of the needed info, she then proceded to tell me she would not pay over $150?

I was stunned.

From Craigslist, right? That's not surprising.

Yeah I figured I would get some low balled deals but with my goal in mind I didn't care but didn't expect to get anything for a wedding I strictly advertised portraits.

Ah well, I'm happy with the few I have gotten.

I would have recommended she buy the disposable cameras at the price and hoped for the best.

I was thinking about telling her to just got my a digital camera and have a family member take pictures that way she can still have the camera afterwards.

I didn't respond after she told me her price.

I would still respond politely that you won't be able to do it for that price. You don't have to go into a long explanation of why, but you never know what a nice response might reward you with down the line. $150 would be a loss for you considering what your time is truly worth. She may genuinely not know what wedding photography costs? It might be naive, but she could also have just started looking.

Yeah, I just need experience to get into the SS position.

But for $150 i couldn't pay anyone to shoot this wedding.
I nicely declined the opportunity.
