Shoot a wedding in a boot? - 05-03-2011, 08:39 PM

So, I found out today, that I have had stress fractures in my foot, (for nearly a year) and have to wear a boot for the next 4-6 weeks. I have a wedding on Saturday. Anyone ever shot in one before? What tips, tricks and things do I need to look out for?

Take it easy. Pack light, bring your assistant.

I shoot a lot moving backwards, so be careful with that. Be careful with stairs.

Move slowly.

Find a second shoe that has a sole about the same height as your boot.

Another shoe at the correct height will definitely help. I was in a boot for almost four months. Not sure how formal the wedding is, but there are a lot of foam wedge flip flops that work height-wise (I lived in those at work). Some even come with bling! Seriously, given the circumstances, go out shoe shopping and find what works best for you to get around and keep your back aligned.

Ditto to what everyone else has said. I was in a boot for a year leading up to my Achilles surgery and 6 months after and I have shot almost everything in it....including a wedding. Balance is key. Don't overload yourself and make sure you stay balanced....otherwise it ain't so bad!

Anyway, I'll jump on board in a relevant way! How did it go?

I'll take the blame. It's 10:30pm for me in Qatar and I'm bored.

Ever since the forum re-booted to pixtus I have a lot of unread threads. So I was just catching up.

She did state 4-6 weeks. So technically she has 2 weeks left.

Haha! I am doing well. Thank you for asking! I go back to the Dr. Monday to see if I can take the boot off!

I did find an assistant to go with me, and she just made sure that I didn't fall down! It is a pain in the foot, but it wasn't too bad.

Glad to hear it went well. I am apparently watching too much British television, and I thought someone was shooting something from the trunk of a car...
