Bridal Locations? - 08-11-2011, 03:33 PM

I don't see the section that use to have all the different locations around Houston that people have shot at or recommend shooting at so I'm going to ask here.
I have a bride that wants her shoot to be different than anything I've shot before(of course, don't they all) which means I cant use any of the locations I've been so I was wondering if anybody can recommend any? She definitely said she wants them outside, very natural (trees, flowers, lakes, etc...), she used the word "magical"...so if anybody knows of a place that might fit that criteria I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

have you shot on north boulevard? that's the most "magical" (like, if i had to pick a place fairies or unicorns might go) no-cost location in houston to me. those trees are just so grand!

it might also be helpful if we knew the places you normally shoot.

there are also lots of little cute trails in most wooded parks. i like mornings there-- not too much bright light, but enough to light up the leaves. this is one from a local park in Friendswood. there aren't usually a lot of people weekday mornings out in the trails, so it's perfect for a shoot.

Oh that place is nice! Sorry I guess that would have helped, lol. I usually stick to the south side of Houston since its the area I'm familiar with such as the Sugar Land area. I usually shoot bridals at the Japanese Gardens inside Hermann Park and some areas around there.

Oyster creek park in Sugar Land is decent if you don't mind cloning out power lines or try to avoid them.

Kingwood has lakes, trails, bridges, boardwalks and lots of woods - but you need to be careful of where you need a K sticker or your car could be towed. if you need more infor PM me and I can give you some ideas. Also Lake Houston Park is north on 59 near Porter and it is a beautiful al natural park - there is a creek but no "lake access" there -

I don't mean to deride any particular person, but wouldn't it be prudent for someone entering this business ride around and become more familiar with scenic areas, especially if they are going to do special shootings for brides, engagements, etc?

I've lived in Houston all my life, but every once in awhile, I'll go to specific parts of town for a "look" I want and don't wander the city much.

Hell, I've even shot in a cemetery.

Oh Yes I've shot at Oyster Creek Park before too but never Bridals. Thanks for the suggestions!!!
I'm not sure who you're referring to Ricco but since you said "especially if they are going to do special shootings for brides, engagements, etc?" I can only assume its me.
1. I'm not just starting in the business.
2. Gas is a little high to just start riding around all of Houston looking for a location
3. I'm pretty sure that's one of the purposes this forum serves is to ask questions and get answers from other photographers willing to help.
So thank you for your input. :)

Well, I didn't mean you specifically, as there are many others that seem to ask the same questions, but there seemed to me that this question gets asked quite a bit.

Then again, perhaps this merely required its own thread to avoid any confusion and hijacking.

Sorry Tom, been to busy to shoot lately, which I really really miss. I'll be back in Houston during Oct. Hopefully I'll get some shootin' done

Houston is only a few thousand square miles. I've lived here most of my life, even learned to drive here (before there was a beltway), but as someone else said, gas (and time) are expensive. Any location shortcuts are greatly appreciated.
