I've noticed the "elitists" around here. Many are all too willing to put down other photographers whenever possible. Doesn't matter if they're "real" photographers, or "soccer moms w/camera" photographers.

I call it the "rock star" syndrome

Whoever does assist as second shooter would mostly do so to help a photographer in need and have fun taking pictures. The way I see it, it is more of a networking opportunity with another photographer and a 'pay it forward' attitude than a business.
We all need help from time to time - so how about we help each other if we can, instead of acting like the 'price police' and complaining about rates and copyright agreements?
Please do not base the entire forum on this one thread.

If you feel like something is "elitist" then report it. It is not the environment we want.

Hmmmm.. I didn't relize that was a "crime" here, seriously.
It's just something that really irritates me, that's all. I like hanging out with other photogs, but not when I feel like I'm being judged.

Mel, I felt the same way about this forum when I joined and actually stayed away for quite some time because of it. But I've grown in my photography and have developed a thicker skin for taking what I consider sometimes very critical advice. I've also found that for the most part, the long-time pros on here are only trying to help and we can't "hear" their tone when they share in just words. I hope you'll give this place a chance and blow off all the ones who rub you the wrong way.

David's original thread was asking for a 2nd shooter at a set price. In no way did he ask for anyone to question his prices.

If you don't agree with his price structure, too bad. That's what worked for him in the past. Ken & Keith have both given a verbal warning. If you feel the need to mouth off then PM me and I'll show you the door.

If you meet the requirements send David your information.

The last thing I ever want to hear or read are comments like Mel's about a forum member(s) harassing one another. As Keith already stated that type of behavior will not be tolerated.

For the record - I never said anything about anyone harassing anyone else.
"Elitists" doesn't = harrassment. I'm talking about the people who think they're the "real photographers" and are upset that the "wannabe's" are too close to their territory.

Like "Fireball" said, just don't let it get to you. I usually just roll my eyes and move on to the next thread. I've identified the elitists here, and I've learned to ignore them.

I have never felt harrassed, I'm not the kind to allow that sort of stuff.

Oh, just a note, I just noticed one of the top Dallas wedding photographers was looking for a second shooter with a lot of experience. He was paying $20/hr.
