Need location help near Mesquite, TX - 12-11-2011, 11:18 PM

I have clients who would like to shoot their engagement in late January/early February of next year. So less than ideal weather. However, they want indoor locations anyway.

Are there nice coffee shops, toy shops or cafes that don't mind an engagement session happening at their place? They're not opposed to driving 30-45 minutes away from Mesquite, but it would be nice if the locations were more west and south.

I'm not at all familiar with DFW so any help would be much appreciated.

TIA!

I live in Mesquite but would have to know about what you're looking for to comment on particular places... Typical surburban town on the SE outskirts of Dallas.
The Mesquite Rodeo (check out on the net) comes to mind as they have a pretty nice facility and as far as I know, are open to visitors even when the rodeo isn't in season. There are at least two historic homes not too far from the Square (which isn't photogenic at all), City Lake Park with a small lake, new Mesquite City Hall (all glass and shiny metal), hmmmmm... Sorry, I usually go to work and then I go back home with few side trips in between so even though I live there, I usually don't photograph there but will be glad to look around for you once I have a better idea of what you're seeking.

Great little secluded area near the gazebo in Westlake Park. Not very large, but has a couple benches with large trees covering a winding path.

Take something to put on the benches, they can get pretty dirty.

Couple bridges, fir trees & a small lake around the park.

Thanks :)

We're looking for indoor, cozy locations. Places like coffee shops, toy stores (quirky ones), diners or cafes. I imagine they're like similar places here in Austin with places to sit, color and big windows.

We're not too worried about outside locations but if we have good weather we can try for that. We'd be on the hunt for a location that has a table flanked by two chairs (again, cafe comes to mind if it has al fresco dining).

They're not into the rodeo/western scene, nothing rustic. Cozy gets their vote (and mine).

Not that I know anything of the area, but if you're looking for quirky, contemplate a candy shop too. Tons of colors and fun backdrops, but again, I don't know if you have any in the area. Sorry, I'm mostly not helpful.

Old firetruck at Firestation No 1 just around the corner... it's an REO

East on Hwy 80 has tons of antique shops. Not sure about photography.

if you want cool interesting coffee shops etc - you might look in the greenville ave area of Dallas - Or Deep Elm - they have more of that Austin vibe - Mequite is going to have more of a country feel... if you want up scale - try Highland Park Village - very cool very upscale... I lived in Dallas for 15 years some cool places there

Thanks! She's found some locations she'd like to shoot at and Deep Ellum was mentioned so I'm looking forward to that one.
