Ha, not surprising. It's interesting that people don't want to pay $50 for generic music because it cuts into their profits. You're charging for it; you should have included that in your costs when developing your charges. Hell, if the extra $50 means people won't buy your videos have a silent (and very creepy) option. Or learn to compose some electronic music on your own.

He said he can buy generic music for $50 for a three-minute track, but it cuts into his profits and his newlywed clients don't like it as much.

The 'Record Industry' appears to have its act together in regard to copyright infringement. Is that only for members of a certain group?

What organization for photographers steps up and is that aggressive for a photographer's rights?

ASMP and PPA are the most aggressive, but neither represent photographers the way RIAA does with recording artists. ASMP/PPA don't have the authority to file litigation for infringements like the RIAA does.

Basically, you have to take care of it yourself.

What would be the pros and cons of a photographer's organization with the same 'authority' and who/ what actually gives them that authority?

The photographers would probably have to give up some right to their pictures and when they have an infringement, they have less say in going after the infringer. Plus they get less of a cut of the proceeds.
