I had a hard time watching this video ... Kept laughing and cringing at the answers of the photographer.

It was impressive that Judge Brown knew what proofs were. And at that moment I thought it was a clear win for the photographer.

Then she answered ... oh boy.

Judge: "What's the speed of the lens?"
Photog: "I don't know"

Photog: "I don't know."

I mean, he knew exactly what kind of gear she should've had, and I couldn't believe the settlement. Photog deserved it though. It's one of those, you should know when to speak and when to shut up.

^^ Definitely agree. A professional would have known not to argue with the judge.

With the exception of the 1D comment I thought he was pretty spot on. I don't think you "need" to have a 1D or D3x in order to be a good wedding photographer, but you better have the lenses you do need.

^^ But I also don't agree with using the Entry level DSLRs either. Sensors that can handle high ISO is also a good must.

The Rebels and the Nikon D40/60/3000/5000 aren't exactly that great on High ISO.

I would say the Prosumer DSLRs and up have the better sensor for such low light.

Obviously the D3 and 1D, but I feel the Canon 7D and Nikon D300s/D7000 and Sony A77 are not to shabby in low-light High ISO capability.

But yes, she definitely puts a bad rep on photogs, but also shows consumers (brides) what you have to look for in a wedding photographer. Gives the pros justice for their pricing.

I am glad that Judge Joe Brown was knowledgeable about photographic equipment. This so called photographer really puts a dark cloud over the true pros. I agree, this is a video that all potential brides should view and realize that sometimes prices come with the proper expectations. Thanks for posting the video and thread.
