Have any of y'all ever had a couple who wanted a gallery wrap for their reception that their guests could sign? I'm thinking something with a felt tip like a silver metallic sharpie would be best. I'm slightly concerned about guests putting holes in the image while trying to write on it. My bride saw a friend who had a picture all the guests could sign that was mounted on what I asume was foam core judging from her description. However, since she expressed a desire to just hang it right on the wall without framing, I mentioned a gallery wrap might be an option. What do ya'll think, would a gallery wrap work well and would you be concerned about guests poking through a gallery wrap? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. It stands a chance of being damaged either way, so I'd make it clear to the clients that you cannot be liable, and suggest one or two people man the table (keep the pens from the kiddos, make sure nobody lifts it off the table...) but I'd get the canvas unwrapped, package it up in a decorative tube or box with a few of the gold/silver pens and your "suggestions" on parchment. When the wedding is over send it back to the lab (or take it to an art shop) and have it wrapped. Unless you put some sort of support behind the canvas and inside the stretcher frame a wrapped canvas is sure to get damaged. (A thick stack of foamcore cut to size and taped together might work for this.)

Good suggestions Fran! I hadn't thought of getting the canvas unwrapped, can most any framing place stretch it properly after the fact?

I'm betting someplace like Aaron Brothers does, but I'm sure there are others. Let your fingers do the walking. You might compare price between my two ideas actually.

Most that I have seen are done on the mat board around the photograph.

The distinctive thing about gallery wraps is that the image actually wraps around the 1 1/2-2" canvas frame. They are meant to hang on the wall without any other framing. See Simply Canvas, one of our TPF sponsors. They have examples on their site.

However, my bride is an "out of the box" kinda gal and wanted her guests to actually sign directly on the print. I'm trying to find the best option to accommodate her desires.
Edit: Since after describing what her friend did at her wedding, she followed up by saying she wanted to "just hang it right on the wall." I suggested the gallery wrap | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
