Has anyone done a wedding , bridal or engagement at the Gaylord ? I have a wedding in May there, but the engagement session we are doing there in 2 weeks. We have permission to do it without paying a fee due to the wedding booking there in May. I would love to see some examples if you got some. I am really looking forward to shooting there I know its beautiful but those ceilings will be really hard to bounce off, lol...

I did some stuff there not too long ago and lots of concert stuff but thats not quite what we're looking for haha.

Basically I have found that the glass in there acts as pretty decent diffusion most of the time. There are a lot of great places to shoot, probably too many to name but spend a few hours before the shoot to walk around and just check it out.

Here is what I took and used so that can kind of give you a feel for what might be helpful...

24-105, 70-200, 85... I used one flash on camera and then my girlfriend had one on a monopod for hair light and backlighting stuff.

Some of the spaces can get cramped and you'll need wide stuff but at the same time there are some spots where you can really get back and the 70-200 range was great for that.

I have done one wedding there and the images were awesome. They are no longer on my computer, but if you want to drive to Denton I can show you the bride's album and several images from her bridal.

Hi Chris,

I did a bridal there over Christmas time, but we had to do mostly closeups due to the Christmas decorations and the crowds. You can view them at www.lesliespurlock.com. The gallery is Candace Bridals. The bride loved them, so I guess that's always a good thing. There are definitely a number of places to shoot there. Make sure you go outside by one of the restaurants. They have a walkway back there, an outdoor fireplace, columns and a variety of other things. I think you will enjoy shooting there.

Thanks Leslie! Perfect, that was what I wanted to see. I can see why she loved them! The one of her sitting by the fireplace, is that the outdoor one you reffer to by the restaurant?

No, that was the indoor fireplace in the main entry at the Gaylord. We didn't actually shoot by the outdoor one. The restaurant is on the right side of the hotel. I don't know if we went through the restaurant or not to access the courtyard. Oh, and the staircase that goes up in one of the pictures is from the restaurant.

I was going to ask about that stairway! Thanks again.
