That doesn't stop most of the unscrupulous phototogs from going there. I basically stopped shooting there because I would pay my fees, have a reservation and show up and there would be 5 other togs there, each saying they had a reservation which I know was crap.

I want to put my application as well as my payment in the mail today. I figure they will get it Friday and I can may my reservation asap. Does anyone know how slow they are about processing applications and how strict they are when it comes to the one week minimum for reservations on time slots??

Thanks guys and gals, but I spoke to them (Rice U) and even if someone were on the list, they still want a two week reservation, so I'm outta luck
Now I just have to find someplace with similar archs/columns which is what she wanted...it didn't have to necessarily be Rice, but when she said archs, that's what came to mind....

How about the Sam Houston Arch just up the street and the facade of the MFA facing the Mecom fountain? There are also two pergolas near the Hotel $Za $Za.

have you thought about uptown park? i was there last week for lunch and noticed by the cafe express the arched walkways were beautiful and the entire area has a gorgous spanish style architecture.

i was on another photographers blog earlier this week and he'd done a session there. I won't post his picture but here is the link to the post on his blog....http://akilbennett.blogspot.com/2008...r-session.html , I now realize that you really don't get a view of the arches so here is another link http://www.photohouston.com/houston-...-pictures.html

anyhoo, if you get a chance to go by there sometime this week you can check it out. good luck

another vote for uptown park...if you go early it's a great location to shoot...i've done a couple of shoots there and between the arched walkways and the colored windows, it always works out nice...alot of photographers are shooting out there and the merchants all seem to be photographer friendly.

There were some nice arches where we shot some of the UTTD downtown, if your bride is into an urban feel.

This is good to know. I do know that it isn't hard to park on one of the streets bordering Rice, and walking on for doing some shooting for fun.
