professional photography at the gaylord texan - 04-01-2008, 01:30 PM

I received this email earlier this morning concerning any professional photography taken at the gaylord texan in grapevine

Professional Photography at Gaylord Texan
The following photography policy has been put in place to ensure that all clients and guests of Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center are able to enjoy the property to its fullest as well as provide professional photographers and their clients access to the settings available throughout the Resort without causing a disturbance.
The cost for a professional photography session at Gaylord Texan is $1,500.00. This includes:
Ø Use of public settings throughout Gaylord Texan Resort.
Ø A changing room for up to 4 hours for the client.

All sessions must be scheduled to assure photography is not interrupted by large group activity, construction, or any other distractions.
Sessions can be scheduled on Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm.
Sessions are not scheduled on weekends as Resort activity is high.
Sessions can be scheduled and confirmed by calling 817-778-3325.
If a professional photographer is utilizing the Resort and does not have correct documentation from the Resort that proves that they paid the fee, Gaylord Texan security will ask the photographer to stop all photography.

Yup...I heard they went up from their original $500...

I believe the exception is if you have your wedding or reception there...

leslie i was tossed from one department to another and spoke to someone legit yesterday who said "they USED to charge but no longer do unless you are renting a room to change into" so therefore, once more we thought it was a free deal. guess we keep getting tossed to the wrong people.

I had a feeling. That's why I said to get a name. I hadn't heard of pros shooting there for free unless the wedding was there.

Wow, I have to agree. That must be a special place. As far as shooting at hotels etc., I have never found a place that allows free photography (unless you are booked there) in 20 + years.

It would open up a can of worms for them to do this. The nicer the location, the more careful they enforce the rules too.

Wow! I took pics of my kids there back around Thanksgiving when all their Christmas stuff was up. Glad I did not look too professional :) I never imagined there would be a fee not to mention such a hefty one!

A few years ago (like in 2004) I heard that the Gaylord was already booked solid for all available convention dates through 2010. Now the place is expanding. They are raking in the dough. Add a casino (make gambling legal in Texas first, of course) and they'd be able to pave the parking lot in solid gold.

I can understand charging a fee for photos, but $1,500 seems mighty steep to me. Does anyone know how much it costs to conduct a wedding there?
