Question What to charge??? - 06-08-2008, 07:32 PM

I recently shot a wedding and have almost 800 images. I did not include paper proofs in my package, they are expensive, and I don't want to mess with it. The couple is asking how much they would cost. It is going to cost me $150+ just to print them.

How much would you charge them? I was thinking at least $300, but is that enough?
Thanks!
Pam

They want all 800 printed??? so that will cost you 19 cents a print....and you only want to make a 19 cent profit???

at least $1.00 a print

This is why I asked! I had no idea what to expect. But $1/print makes sense!
Thanks

You might see if they really want prints of ALL the images. It's unlikely that all 800 are keepers, at least in their eyes.

they said they did not want to miss out on any.
I'd rather offer all, or nothing myself.

I can understand that. But my 2 cents:

For me, I weed out ones with blinkies, random body parts or "creative focus" (as in bad focus). The couple will show your photos, good and bad, to other people. You want to leave the impression that the job you did was above par to lead to other referrals or a warm fuzzy feeling when your clients flip through their photos.

I have already weeded out the blinks, out of focus ones, etc. I just never show the bad ones to clients, ever. Not all 800 will be in their album, so they want them all in proof size, is my guess.

I do my best to include all the story tellers in the album, but there might be a comical one, etc. that doesn't make it. They do have the option of ordering any of the 800 images in different sizes. So they do have the option of ordering just the ones they want. I am guessing they wanted proofs to save money.
