Hi Guys,

I'm in a pretty desperate situation. This wedding was the first I booked and I said I'd do it for $300. Total. Yeah. Live and learn.

I had a classmate lined up as a second shooter, but I found out yesterday she's out. I'm screwed. So- if anyone wants to come along for some experience - let me know. I'm shooting with Canon, and I'd require that you be able to at least shoot in Raw & have an external flash, and it'd be awesome if you had your own CF cards & lenses. Anything you take you're welcome to use for your own portfolio, and I can draw up a copyright contract we can both sign and stuff.

The wedding is at a church (no flash allowed) in Euless, and the reception's at a parent's house - evening, outdoor, no tent that i know of.

You'd mainly be in charge of getting the groom prep shots, helping with formals, maybe holding a light stick during the dancing if there is any and some ceremony shots from far back/in the back high up seating.

I'm going to the rehearsal dinner Friday and you're welcome to come too, give us a chance to meet before the wedding and scout out the site.

I'm at work all day today and won't be able to get back to anyone before 9pm unless you text me 940.367.8273 or email me at heather@heatherharephotography.com.

Thanks,
Heather

Heather, I promise I am not being mean, but you handle is very fitting. Your first wedding, and you want a 2nd shooter to come and they can gain some experience? And may I ask who is going to show them the ropes?
You might offer to pay a seasoned 2nd shooter 300 to come help you out.
Sorry if this comes off the wrong way, but Hon, this is a one time thing for this couple and you are taking a time bomb to their wedding.

I think she was asking for help, maybe she thought there were some friends here that could help her, some of you on here are a tough crowd and sometimes mean spirited.

I will agree on this being a tough crowd, and especially when it comes to weddings. But I have to disagree on being mean spirited. When you are shooting a wedding you have to expect the unexpected, cause it will happen. It has already started for the OP. Her 2nd shooter has already cancelled on her and the wedding hasnt even started. As far as being friendly, take a look at this post : http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=95066
Confidence is a great thing, but only to a point.

I still think there are some on here that can be very harsh when people need help and yes some are mean spirited, I thought the forum was for all, complete newbees, beginning professionals just starting, asking advice and yes some that get over their heads from time to time that are asking for help, just depends on if you want to give them a hand or verbally beat them with a stick.
