1.
I would work on her just slightly. Her eyes are different sizes, and I would do a little bit of free transform to make them a little closer to similar sizes. The right cheek around where the sideburns would be on a man bothers me a little, and pulls me away from her eyes, which should be the focus of this pic. Good light, good comp.

2. A little too overexposed. I would pull the blacks up a little. I like the shot, and the expression. My wife's personal favorite pics are the just before or just after a kiss pictures. So much happiness and you captured it perfectly.

3. Very good. I like these wide shots. If the sky is too blown out, I would sub in the sky from another picture. I would also darken the top half of the church. The graduated filter tool on lightroom will be your friend on this. Then you can sub in the new sky.

Also, I would crop the left part of the frame slightly. I want this to be completely symmetrical and the right side of the frame is closer to the couple. Also the peak of the church isn't exactly in the middle.

Next time, make sure their hands meet right under the handles and that they are each about a foot apart from the handles. This pic lives in its symmetry, and you are just slightly off.

4. Another good moment like the overexposed shot. I don't really like the streetlight framing them. Not my choice of background. This picture is begging for off camera flash.

5. I like this a lot. I would kill some of the flyaways on her hair. Love the eyes.

6. I would bring the exposure back just a little bit on her. Good moment, although his expression isn't all it could be. The sun is giving you a nice rimlight.

7. I like it. Good exposure, nice light and rim. Good scene overall.

8. Very good. I would like it slightly wider on the right so that she is not so centered. I would play with a few different crops on this, including one where she is about to walk off the frame.

Good job.

I think that Thomas pretty much covered it... I'm just curious as to how you'd crop the 3rd one for an 8x10 without cutting them or the top of the church off? Take your pick, I guess... My fave is the last one... Awesome job Bryan!

What was your shutter speed on last picture?

I agree with Thomas that more space on the right of her walking would make it spatially a little more interesting.

8 is my fav. i like it as is.

i don't really care for pictures given more exposure, but i think it may be a little over done in this case. #2 is something that, if sooc, i would have tossed.

what's an eesh?

good job overall.

Why would you ever print an 8x10 when there are an abundance of 8x12 frames on the market? Not to mention the infinite custom frame options...

Bryan, there are a few things that bother me on #5 that you might want to think about next time you're out there...
--not everyone was meant to be photographed so close. i personally dislike the plastic portraiture look, but I think this couple needs it (although keep it subtle)
--they are posed abnormally & uncomfortably close to each other... I think it would sit better with me if maybe they were leaning into each other with the sides of their foreheads touching (with their heads slightly angled toward each other)... the way it is now with their entire cheek flush together, it looks like they are conjoined twins who share an ear.
--i'm not a fan of the small white boog hanging from her nose.
--it might also help if you were shooting from a slightly raised angle instead of being on the same plane as your subjects.. it just looks too flat. the same goes for #1.

Thanks for reading,
-dan

Thanks to all who commented.

@Tom: Many valid points, tho some are stylistic. Sloppy symmetry on my part, doh! I do fundamentally disagree about re-sizing her eyes (or anything for that matter) in PP - if it can be corrected with makeup, I'll correct it in PP. Great point about hands-under-handles, I never considered that before.

@Tommy: I cropped this image a bit from the original, so I do have some room to go back and play with if they wanted a print.

@DC: Shutter at 1/30, maybe? 1/45, 1/20, one of those three. Can't remember exactly. :-) That was originally a very wide shot, and cropping further would reveal that I don't have sharpness in the dude's face. I wish I could go further with it.

@Connor: Eesh -> E-Session -> Engagement Session. Kids today and their lingo... :-)

@Dan: Thanks. I was really focusing on their eyes for that shot. I am surprised by how polarizing that shot is - people seem to love it or hate it.

Thanks again all for taking the time to comment.

I still want to add that the thirds rule wasn't quite employed well in #3. Other than that it's great to have so many comments on your work. I'd love to post some and get beaten up a bit. What doesn't kill you always makes you stronger. I believe that's the saying.
