The Dream Wedding giveaway - 02-09-2010, 09:58 PM

A bunch of local vendors and I went in together and gave away a "Dream Wedding" It was a lot of work and I'll never do it again.
Anyway the actual wedding was 2 weeks ago and here are some pictures I captured. CC welcome.

The wine and the garter were shots for the vendors who donated them. Caprock wine here in Lubbock and hcc garters.

Lovely shots. They are lucky to get them for free. That's an unusual wedding cake. Wonder what the story is behind that. I prefer my cake without feathers.

impressed :) Wish I could get a dream wedding for free, seems like the only way it will happen for Jon and I in this economy.

But You did an excellent job with the pics here.

I really like the garter shot, and I love the personality captured in the one where she's about to toss the boquet!

Bouquet toss and ring shot are standouts.

Honestly, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, the others could have been taken with a point-and-shoot. It's the direct flash that is killing you, and my guess is that you are on an automatic setting (aperture priority, shutter priority, or full-out Auto). Next time I would suggest bouncing the flash off the wall or the ceiling to get a better exposure. I hope this helps

I was actually thinking the EXACT same thing. Doesn't exactly scream 'dream cake' to me.

Good job on the pics though April!

Thanks for the feedback.
I knew my lighting needed working on but point and shoot?...but it is good to point out stuff like that, helps me know I need to keep working it!
I had my light on a pole, nothing to bounce it from so I used on of those bonnet things to bounce it off the bonnet.
I'm not sure what happened with the cake. They wanted a peacock theme so that's what they chose to do.

Believe me, I thought long and hard before throwing out the "P" word. And god knows that I'VE taken some crappy pictures that looked like P&S. The good news is that by making some relatively simple changes (bounce, or drag the shutter) you can improve quickly. Hope this helps.
