Bridal shoot of sister in law - 02-19-2011, 08:37 PM

At my sister in law's wedding the photographer ran out of time and did not take any bridal shots. Needless to say once the bride realized this after the wedding she was pissed and asked me to take a few. A few months later we went back to the wedding site and did a bridal shoot. The session was a lot of fun and the bride looked amazing. This is my first attempt at a bridal shoot so CC and post processing ideas are welcome.

Where did you find that tree? I love that! My taste in post work is to go a little more dramatic, but I know alot of people like the more natural look.

The tree was in a dry creek bed at Swanderosa, a wedding site just outside San Antonio. When you say more dramatic do you mean more contrast or a heavier hand with dodge and burn?

This is a great series. I love #3 and 4 because of the room and the lighting you created to capture her. Not sure what look you trying to capture, although most of my clients would want the skin smoothed out in #1 and #2. Lastly, the two wide angle including the tree are very moving...

Great job

Why would anyone do bridal shoot at the wedding?

Overall a good first time effort. Your shots are technically sound, and the location is great, but you lack the experience in posing, choosing a good angle and placing bride to get the best lighting possible.

Processing should be an after thought unless you are experienced enough to go for certain look that fits your processing style.

The bride did not get any shots of herself or any with the bridesmaids the day of the wedding.

Scott, thanks for the tip on the smoothing.
