Texas Wedding | Jacob & Samantha - 05-10-2011, 12:04 PM

Critique: NC:

A few of my favorite shots from a wedding this past weekend! A lot of fun, although I forgot to bring water to a 3pm outdoor ceremony on a 92 degree day!

More images are at Theo Civitello - Automotive, Wedding & Life Photography

Thanks guys,

Theo

2 - They broke this out all on their own! Made for a great shot.

5 - The bride "directing" the family photos.

6 - A bit dark and grainy...the flash hadn't powered to 100% yet. I still like it though!

Nicely done, but the pictures seem safe and ordinary. Is there any one image that would stand out as representative of your style?

1 and 5 are my favorites. More like #5 would make some good Album material.
2, 6, and 7 seem a little out of focus or it is just the web.

Having shot relatively few weddings, I'm still actively searching for my style. Hopefully with a few more second shootings under my belt it will start to emerge! Thanks for your CC!

Thanks! 6&7 are definitely a little soft. The focus was wandering in the dark reception area unfortunately. I still like those two though. I'm not sure why #2 looks soft on here...the photo is sharp originally! Thanks for your comments!

I am in the same boat as you and often come away frustrated. However, I am slowly noticing an element that can turn into a style marker that people can associate with my work. The issue, then, becomes how to broaden the scope so that there are enough to these style markers to overshadow the less compelling images.

Since weddings are so formulaic and repetitive, no matter where one lives, it can be a full time job trying to get a viewer to single your work out from the competition.

You have the basics pretty well. It will be interesting to see the direction you take over time.
