I'm not a portrait taker, so my critiques are based just on what I like or don't like, and won't be very technical.

For a first time bridal shoot, these are wonderful! I like the use of some creative techniques and scenery.

1. Overall, I like this photo, but there are some strong shadows, so maybe some light (or even a reflector since there seems to be a lot of sunlight) from the left (her right).

2. I like the photo, but it looks like she is holding her neck back which is giving her an odd look.

3. Not a huge fan of selective color, and I don't think it adds anything here. And honestly, I think the color on her lips is scary, if she likes it, I'd just do the flowers and shoes. Also, compared to the similar photo in color, the red looks a little pink.

4. I think this is a great photo, and a perfect use of DOF.

5. The way that the dress is lying over one leg but not the other I find rather odd. I also think it would be a stronger "sexy" photo if she were making eye contact with the camera. Of course, if she's going for the tired look, this works.

thanks audrey. in #1, we may have over done the back round lighting a bit. (no sunlight at all in that photo. camera right is a 7' reflective umbrella, with a softbox type cover on it, and we did a bare strobe against the back wall, to get rid of shadows from the railing)

I was thinking the same thing about her lips in the 'selective color' one. I'm not a huge fan of it either, but it served to draw the eye to a couple of spots in this case. I may go back and 'fix' the lips.

and 'tired, worn out, gripping a pillow' was exactly what she was asking for !!! Yea! mission accomplished!
