A Past Wedding Pic - New Mexico - 03-13-2005, 10:48 AM

Well I am bored today, waiting to pick up the family at the airport in an hour or two. So I thought I would post a past wedding picture, one of my favorite out in the middle of nowhere in New Mexcio. The closest city (if you want to call it that) is Magdalena off of Highway 60 running out of Socorro on the West Side. The wedding was up in the mountains last Aug. in the ruins of an Old West bar/whore house from the 1800's. One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen for a wedding. The weather was chilly and raining off an on all day but during the wedding the clouds let up and the Sun peaked through and allowed us get some great shots!

Their wedding album I designed is at this link www.storiesbyphotography.com/New_Mexico-Album if you are interesting in seeing the other pictures.

The album is great, great photos. Who prints the albums out for you? Do you do the entire layout yourself or do you use templates?

I create everything myself using PhotoShop, however I have created templates of pages I like in both PhotoShop and a few other programs like LumiPix - Photo Fusion which speeds up the process now for future albums. I have four basic designs I use, one very linear, one very non-linear, one a mix, and one just kinda free form. However with that said if my clients us Graphi Studio, Graphi Studio (an amazing company in Italy) does the design and printing. If I use other companies (Leather Craftsman (best in the USA), Quuensberry, Zookbinders, La View, and even CornerStone) I use Miller's Lab for the printing and then send the prints off for them to mount and bind them for me.

Thanks for the nice words and if you have any more questions on the album process PM me I will be happy to answer any questions you might have!

That's a beautiful album. Back when I got married, they were not as fancy!

I like the angle you got on the ring exchange.

HA! He is right all our weddings are shot with at least 2 photographers! This one I had myself and two other photographers as well as a video man who shot 4 cameras. All in all we had a ton of photographs from lots of different angles which worked well with the type of album that was created!

Also thank you guys and gals for the nice words! This picture was almost a throw away since it was way under exposed due to the heavy backlight of the sky and the upward angle. However I shot it in RAW so I was able to save it, if this was a JPG file it would have been lost! Ever since this picture I have always shot in RAW format!

Not so big, since it was out in the middle of nowhere, but it was an important one, plus a trip out to New Mexico to visit the big town of PIE TOWN is worth bringing more people, They have the best pie I have ever tasted, 8 different pies a day and amazing food to boot. :)

No you don't I promise! I am way to weird and strange person just ask my wife! You would not like yourself

On a serious note, thank you but seeing your work and others on this forum I truely feel it is something many can do, there is alot of talent on this forum which is another reason why I enjoy being a part of it.

If you are interested in seeing other albums I have posted you can check out this link to my site and remember this is not just my work but my partner's Cody's and other photographers which assist us during the events. Cody and I always shoot the events together, but we like to have a 3rd photographer also to help us with the equipment, be another set of eyes on the equipment, and to learn and shoot as the day goes on!

Thanks, yeah it is my favorite from the wedding also. We did not use the image for the ablum cause, as stated above, we thought it was going to be a throw away. I did not start playing with the image until late last year when getting ready for the Bridal Show in Houston this past Jan. Cody liked it so much we got a 24x30" printed and framed of it. It grew on me after I saw the final print!

Thanks for looking and posting as always!

Great shot Mike!

I also shoot RAW, and it has saved my a$$ more times than I care to think...
