Jacob & Laura | Texas Summer Wedding - 07-05-2011, 05:48 PM

Critique: NC:

I was the second shooter for a wedding this past weekend. It was a ton of fun and challenging at the same time. It was the first time I've experienced strict rules for photographers in the church (no flash, can't go past the last pew, and staying up in the balcony is preferred). All these limitations definitely threw a kink in the ideas that I'd had for the ceremony, but I it was definitely a learning experience.

Being the second shooter, I tried to capture small details and moments rather than the obligatory shots, which were left up to the primary shooter. It was a lot of fun to be able to experiment with different lighting and settings to get new effects.

Some really good shots! Love that last one. I like being the detail guy. #1 I might have tried a different angle. Other than that, I can't say much. You did very well. Really nice job balancing the outside light with the interior on the table shot. That can be really tough at times.

I agree, these are fantastic. Love the shot of them dancing.

You did a really great job. I like these and the processing you chose.

Thanks! I probably could have chosen a different angle for #1 so that the text was more legible. I appreciate the comments!

Great job. My favorite is the rim lighting on the first dance pic. But all are vibrant, well composed, and sharp (except the recessional shot - but that is to be expected... I understand you were capturing the movement there). =)

thank you! i was just too afraid about high ISO noise in the chapel...i had it at 1250 for that shot. i shouldn't be though since the D700 does very well at higher ISOs. next time i'll be bumping it up even further!

i used to be afraid of high iso as well, i regularly shoot 3200 these days if i need too..sometimes a little noise reduction with imagenomic works absolute wonders (or any other noise reducer). nice set though!

Very nice work. I like the high key processing. Love the shot of them holding hands.
