Critique: NC:

A friend is getting married and I emailed him to see what he was going to do about an engagement shoot and the wedding photog.

He sent me back an email saying they were going to go with this:

Cupics - .

I almost fell out of my chair, and told him he was the biggest Redneck in Texas..

No he was serious.

His boss has a machine and was going to loan it to them.

Have you watched "My Big Redneck Wedding" on TV? AWESOME!
If you're bored and want a good laugh, watch this show! You might see your friend LOL
My favorite was the episode with the girl in a camo wedding gown, and decor included taxidermied critters.

I help photograph a lot of weddings with photo booths. None of them were redneck. Another trend is that the pictures are put together in a book with the guests' signatures as a guest book (with duplicate copies printed for the guests). Not that odd really.

I guess I'm missing something here. We photograph a ton of weddings that have photo booths. We even offer one, ourselves. It's extremely popular, and not just in Texas.

He was not going to have any photog's there. He was going to just let the magic machine capture his wedding.....

Again I think it has a time and place - I also think photog's bring creativity and equipment that much better captures the event....

I was getting the impression that he was going to have that at his wedding in addition to a photographer, which I see no problems with. It would be fun for the entire party. But replacing a photographer with a photobooth? Wow.

Why not? If the B&G only want fun shots of friends and family?

I know some B&Gs that opt for no photographer and simply put disposable cameras on the tables at the reception. (My wife and I did this and relied on friends and family to shoot the ceremony).

Not all people think wedding photography is important (I know that's a rare thing in Bridezilla times, but it's true).
