Critique: CC:

Disclaimer: I don't do engagements or weddings. :) I stick to the little ones and their moms and dads. But when my sweet niece asked me to do her engagements, I couldn't turn her down.

She is very conscious of her shape (like most women) so I really tried to pay attention to flattering poses (which I'm not terribly used to, it's hard to pose toddlers - ha!) so it really took some concentration.

While I have no interest in entering the world of wedding photography, I do believe in always learning - so I'd love to hear some critique or other feedback...thanks!

These are my three favorites. More from the set: Tomball E-sesh - more

I really like #1 and #3. Not sure what bugs me about #2, maybe his arm is too dominating across her body like that or maybe he looks a little stiff? The three poses you posted hide his face a lot, but I'm sure you have plenty more of the standard stare at the photographer shots. Very nice interaction poses.

Thanks Audrey. I also noticed he was hiding his face as he snuggled into her, he did that a lot and I thought it was sweet. :) This is the one they chose for their save the date:

Oooh, very nice. Love the catch lights you got (if you can count sky as catchlights?). Beautiful series, and they must be very happy with your work!

I like the save-the-date one the best. Great focus, color and catchlights. The only thing I would watch when up close (only because I've made this mistake many times) is cutting them off at the neck so they look like they're floating heads. It's good to always include a bit of neck/shoulder.

Thanks, Viet and Charrie. You are right Charrie, the save-the-date one is a bit too close-up. I am much happier now that the focus has been fixed on the camera and 50/1.4! :)
