The black and white shot is really effective. It allows detail to contribute to the story.

Thanks! It's interesting because on FB, they seem to like the color version. I was tossed. Also, the black and white was a Holga LR preset, so that's why there's that white spot on the bottom right. I debated whether or not to burn it in, and I ultimately decided to leave it. That might change once I actually process the images later.

Removing the white spot would change to balance for me. Because the color image is co monochromatic, the black and white is a more compelling image for me. It also adds a timeless quality to it. One cannot immediately identify the time frame in which this picture was taken. It leave one wondering how old this image is.If this had been my wedding, this shot would have gone into my personal portfolio or album because of the uniqueness of it.

The white spot doesn't add anything to the photo other than a distraction for the eye, pulling it off the main subject of the photo. You still have the effect of an older photo without it. Cover the white spot with your hand while looking at the photo and notice how the eye stays with his face instead of wandering down into that right hand corner.

Sorry Leslie, only making a case for removing the spot; not a negative comment in any way. I can see an argument for using either photo. Seems like it will boil down to your personal preference.

Thanks, guys! And yes, I think I will remove the white spot. My second shooter also told me immediately that I should remove it. I have no problem with people giving a critique even though I put NC.

With your PJ background I wasn't sure if the dude was injured or getting married

B&W has a slight edge on the color version imho
