I don't get the non level horizon in soo many engagement pics these day. These all look great, that has just been standing out for me lately. In one or two shots and it's a great affect, I don't know about 2-4 though....seems....out of place for me.

Rahb - I understand it goes against the rules. I also got the standard...level horizon, no tilt shots for this couple to let them decide which they prefer. I myself just get tired of seeing the standard stuff. But I can understand your problem with an unlevel horizon.

#2,3 and last one are spectular. i actually love tilt shots. it breaks from the norm..... i think the picture would have been such picture perfect had it not been tilted.
i didnt like to high constrast in #1. i thought it was too overexposed for me on the far right. Would love to see the #1 (from the 2nd set in color). I am curious how it looks.

I like the look and feel of all of them. I think the tilt shots work better when the subject fills the frame and the horizon isn't in the shot. Water, to me, has to be level. I don't know why??? And that's hard.

I like the treatment of #1 and #3. Nice conversions. I'm wondering if you have any more shots of #1 from a different perspective? Lower, different angle? Nice location!!!

Later!

I love all of them except the last shot in your second post... they look to plastic or something like that... I am a fan of the tilt and norm... I think it works well in most of these shots as well... my only complaint would be that its the same old border.. lmao :)

Holly, these are your best engagement shots so far! I love so many of them, that I can't list them all. I do wonder how you got that nice seagull to position himself just so perfectly in the 6th shot, lol. I think numbers 2 and 3 are my favs :)

as someone who is trying to keep from having boxy images, I don't like 'perfect' horizons. They aren't natural really.

Nice, very nice. Only one I don't really care for is the last one in the second post. A bit too blown out for my taste - or at least non-accidental taste!

While engagements are my weak spot in my art, they are by far hands down without any question your strong point Holly! Great, and I mean really great stuff!

That's funny...I was just telling someone yesterday I thought they were my weakest spot... lol Thank you. :)

lol...this was the best of about 5...the gulls were crazy that day...I have one that shows about 15 of them right above their heads..but it seemed to weight the image down imo...wasn't balanced. Usually you can bring chips to throw into the air (cheetos are popular) for the gulls to gather in your backgrounds...but that day I definitely didn't need it...guys on the jetties were reeling in fish left and right..so the gulls had incentive to hang around. :)

Thanks for the response John, yeah I do have some from diff. angles, also in vertical orientation.

Thanks so much to everyone for taking the time to look and reply!!! I really appreciate the comments and tips for next time. I agree with ya'll on the last one of the second set...was just playing around trying for a vintage feel.. :)
