Bridal Question - 04-12-2006, 10:50 PM

Ok... so those of you who do these wonderful bridals outdoors in various locales... an off the wall question.

Where does she get dressed in the bridal gown?

I mean, they aren't exactly easy to get into, so the back of a car or a small changing tent isn't exactly something easy.

Most of the time our girls come ready and dressed for the party :)

If we shoot downtown we have a hotel or two which allows us to use their restroom for the girls to change but other than that, they come dressed and ready to shoot!

I am have been considering buying one of those little changing tents...although, I don't think a bride will fit very well in there with a fluffy dress

And it's not just her that you have to fit in there...it's her plus the entourage she brings with her to help get into the dress...some of those things are pretty complicated. :)

It depends on where we are shooting. Sometimes they come ready, sometimes they change in a nearby restroom.

Hi Brad,
I ask my brides to come bustled and ready to roll. Sometimes due to the material of the dress and the lenght of the drive, they simply can't sit in the car that long without wrinkling the dress to peices. In that case this is what I tell them to do:
Wear shorts or a skirt and a spegetti straps shirt. Once they arrive, put the dress on, over thier clothing, and then simply remove the clothing underneath.
So far that solution has worked like a charm. :-)
Hope that helps.
Cindy

That's a sound bit of advice, Cindy.. I'll have to remember that. I have two bridals to do here real shortly (weddings are September and October), so you can understand why I'm wondering how this part works. :)

I usually just ask them to strip in front of me... And after I pick myself up off the ground, I have them dress in a restroom somewhere. Just kidding of course.

Your procedure seems like a very workable one. Most women know how to do this "trick" any ways, but may not think of it unless you suggest it. You are so wise !! And so now will you strip ??? OUch that hurt...
