I meter of the dress, until the highlights are a little blown. I might bracket a couple of shots where the dress might be blown more, but it helps with the noise for the grooms suit. A tripod comes in handy, and their is usually not that much movement from the couple.

Very good tip. However, some locations don't allow it at all or restricts use to the very back of the church. On those particular cases, it helps to be comfortable/knowledgeable(sp?) enough to adjust settings on the move and have good handholding technique.

I always find a way to screw this up at least once or twice during an event. I'm stuck on always metering on the person's skin.
