My first two weddings - 12-11-2006, 06:57 PM

The pictures are in gallery's on my website. Please let me know what you think. The first one was in the Summer, and all I had was my rebel xt and my 50mm 1.4 with me. The second was last weekend (December 2). It was a friends wedding and I was not a photographer. The actuall photographer said he didn't mind me shooting. But, as you can tell I didn't have the best angles. I used my sigma, so I had to shoot in 400 ISO, I wished I'd brough the 50mm, but oh well. Let me know what you think. I know some are blurry and they aren't the best composition wise. I'm prepared for any and all constructive criticism.

I think I need to get the 1.4. Love the flower still.

I agree, the flower image is very nice.

If I was to make one constructive comment, it would be to get your flash either off camera or bounce it. Direct flash is really harsh and gives the appearance of a Point and Shoot camera with red eye, big shadows, etc...

Practice bouncing prior to your next wedding. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the difference it can make.

I'm not a big fan of the mega glow effect on this picture and a few others.

Otherwise, #2 is a big improvement on #1 wedding w/ new gear. I second the direct flash advice above

My only problem with bounce flash is that I have a 420ex and it is obvious when you bounce the flash....the bottom half of the picture is dark while the top half is lit well......hmm.

I may need to get a stronger flash.

And yes, some pictures were alot more blurry once I viewed them from when I edited them...I'll have to work on my post processing as well as EVERYTHING else. Hince my request for critique.

thank you guys

Does anyone know if buying a flash diffuser will illiminate the problem i'm having with bounce flash, or if it will make my 420ex too weak and pointless?

I'd try a flip-it or something like it.. I use one, but on a 580EX...
