Color or B&W. Comments Welcome - 12-24-2006, 01:07 PM

Going over some more of the photos from the Bridal Session I helped with Phil and Leslie, I thought I would pop these 2 on here to get your opinions on which one you prefer.

The only bad part about the photo as a hole is I lost the detail in the Roses because the Door was so stark red in the first place.

A little different post processing for me on these 2.

Playing with new colors on my new LCD I got for Christmas so if they arent right let me know what you see different to see if I need to calibrate something.

Thanks again for any and all Comments, They are greatly appreciated.

More from this session as I get them processed..

I am a big fan of black and white, but I think that the shot came out too dark for it. There is not enough contrast, also the roses are almost not detectable. I think the color shot looks awesome.

I'd go for color here too.

Selective Color? Let's see it in B&W with just the red ....

I almost always prefer B&W but I agree, you can't see the flowers - therefore you can't tell what she is looking at in the B&W version. Definitely color - because it ROCKS!

Your B/W has been blown out in the whites and the darks blend important aspects into the background (AKA flowers)

Its nice, but the color gets my choice due to the problems above!

I like the color as well.

One thing to note is that the color shot itself is almost a monochrome. It's not "Black" and white, but there's very little color in it- similar to what you'd get with a B&W with sepia treatment.

For what it's worth- I like B&W work myself- but folks my parents age view B&W as defective- it's what they used before they invented color, and they view a B&W print about as favorably as you'd view a B&W television. Young people see it as something different and something period.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

color - the B&W is too blown out. Maybe you could try converting it again and not bump the contrast? That is, if you really wanted a B&W.

I like the rich tones in the color. And I didnt think that the roses are crushed or lost in the color version. They have detail, they just arent the focal point. :o)

I like both but I would go with the color.. YOu can sort of see the flowers in the color and I can't see them at all in t B&W. My mind might be in the gutter on this one but... oh well nevermind. I'm derlerious and don't know what I'm talking about.
