Bridal Shoot at Flippen Park in Dallas - 04-19-2007, 11:45 PM

I photographed this beautiful bride a couple weeks ago with Amy http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=45753

I am always looking to improve, especially my use of light and posing, so any Critiques are greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!!

Nice job, Sarah. I especially liked the first image. Just my own personal taste but I would have liked to see some detail on her gown. Her veil, upper back and dress all blended into one in the first image.

Thanks Paulo, I see what you're saying about the first one. I was trying to go for a more artsy feel with that one. But I do find it difficult to not blow out the dress sometimes, especially when the bride is backlit. Any suggestions? Should I expose for the dress and then just brighten up the face in PP?

Oh yeah, I've done that on a recent bridal sitting as well (overexposed). From CC's I've received myself, experiment with spot metering and expose for the dress. Or use a grey card for correct exposure and then tweak to your liking in post. With my own work, I'm not really into the 'glow' effect, but it seems to work on your images.

I already told you, but great work - I didn't notice the last one when I looked on the gallery...that's my favorite!

I have shot there too.. Gotta play with fill flash to retain the detail and exposure of the subject and the background.

I like the shots..But not a fan of blowout.

The last pic is a winner!

Hi!

I realize these are old photos but I was wondering if you can recall what lens you used?

I really like the artsy look with the blowout in the b&w ... not too much on the color blurs ... and LOVE the last one!!

Curious to see more of your work!

Melissa :)

Thanks for your comments :)

Wow! These are really old! To be honest I don't really remember the lens I used, probably the 24-105L or maybe even the cheap kit lens lol! Looking at the ones with the glowy processing makes me cringe now!!

Totally get that - I think we all do as time progresses =)
Are you still doing bridals/weddings? I'm just beginning to take on that beast ;)

Thanks for your response!
