My First Engagement Guest Book - C/C PLEASE - 05-23-2007, 11:07 AM

So I don't love it and I can't figure out why. What do you think? Should I have stuck to all black or all white pages? Are there too many photos and too little blank space? Too few photos? I think I just feel like I'm stretching it to get it into 20 pages. Ideally, I'd love to do like 12 pages, but the company I'm using has a minimum of 20 pages. It's a 6x9 book printed on matte paper specially for writing on. I'm thinking of getting the couple a few silver scrap booking pens for it.

What do you think??

Just my opinion, but I think it would look nicer if all of the 'backgrounds' were black (not to mention easier to see a silver pen). I'm also not a fan of the lower opacity images, but if your client likes them thats what matters- I just think that your pictures look like they have great saturation, so it would have more pop solid and on black.

Nice 1st book! I tend to like the black background better than the white - but that's predictable, right? I don't care for the images faded out when they are standalone on a page. I usually like that as the background when there is a dominant image on the page and the faded one is in the background. I think my fav page is 6-7. Great start!

Yeah - they were all black and I thought it was too dark. I'll try to convert it back (saved the layers) when the baby goes down for her afternoon nap and repost it.

I agree with all black pages. I've been wanting to make something like this with an engagement or bridal shoot. I like it!

Ok. Here's the all black pages version. And yes, the couple specifically asked for the "faded" type images that were the whole page. I don't know if I like them yet or not...

I tweaked it some more with some comments that a friend of mine made. Better? Worse? I think I like it more. Less space for writing, but there aren't going to be a ton of guests so I already though that 20 pages was going to be too many.

I like it a lot with the black pages! With the silver pen it will be a wonderful keepsake for the couple.
