I keep trying to loose the drama and get some bright happy stuff. I think I failed. I gotta admit - I like the red one better b/c its dark. I LOVE sunflowers, but the darkness is calling to me.
I should hire another photographer that makes everything look all cheerful. This was my pathetic attempt at happy bridals. lol. At least they arent solid black this time.

Bah, maybe dark bridals are your niche :) If that's what you do well and that's what she wants, rock it!
I tend to like darker, more dramatic stuff myself...

I like both of them.
I think I would like the first one a little more if she either making eye contact with the viewer or looking the opposite way of the blowing veil.
But it still a great shot as is.

I love the second shot. I like the first one also, but I agree with Jake that she should be looking the other direction.

The first one, it seems that most the flowers seem to be "looking" at her. Maybe a solid blue sky would help the veil stand out more. The second one looks like she got her veil stuck in some gum (maybe it's just the way she's looking down at her veil on the ground that gives it that look of it's stuck on something)
I love the drama in both of the images.

Hey Holly
I love both pics. Love the style and the colors.
Would you mind sharing where you placed the off camera flash on both pics?

I saw the shot with the flowers facing toward me and ended up turning around the other way. The flowers turning away, the bride reaching out for something fleeting, like the wind through her veil, just out of reach. B/t that and her expression, it looks melancholy to me.
OK, here's the thing. I do melancholy well enough. Some call it somber or pensive. Yeah sure. Then every so often I think I may want to try something different and happy, but once I start shooting...I divert back to melancholy. The background can change and the colors can be brighter, but I still have that mood thing. Grrr.
#1 is growing on me. Oh well. Maybe I should eat pixie stix before I shoot. lol. Help my mood get a little more perky. I hate perky. Screw it. I like melancholy better anyway.

#1 had a single off camera flash placed about 6.5' high aimed down at her over where the veil is flowing (camera left).
#2 two flashes. One behind her aimed up at the wall and one slightly to the right of me.

Holly - Love 'em both, especially the saturation. They look very Tri-Coastish, and that's a good thing.

Im sorry but You ROCK melancholy. Id say happy has been done.
I LOVE the first one. If I got a shot like that I would be showing it off all over town. LOL
I really thought your flash was planted in the grass by her feet.
