Wedding in Baytown - Simple Good People - 12-01-2008, 12:32 AM

A while back Cody and I had a WONDERFUL wedding from a young lady which found us almost 3 years before her wedding date. Normally only booking a wedding no more than 1 year in advance we actually accepted this amazing client a little before that and well we are both glad we did.

#1 - Wendy's Wedding Gown

#2 - The Day's events

#3 - Wendy walking down the isle not for her wedding but for a first look with her father. You see Wendy's father had not seen his daughter in her wedding gown and well lets just say it was a very special moment of many happy tears when he finally did.

#4

#5 - The something blue" aspect of Wendy's wedding day was a piece of her mother's actual wedding dress, a blue wedding dress, cut and placed inside Wendy's dress.

#6 - The Couple at the Alter

#7 - The Kiss

#8 - The Shot the Bride HAD to have, but since the limo driving got lost on the way to the reception hall we had only a little bit of light to capture the image. All in all it worked out well.

#8-1 - Processing of that image - One wireless flash - Canon 580ex on a light stand approximately 12-14 feet in the air - shot through a portable softbox. Main flash turned off only to transmit to the wireless unit.

Camera Information:
Shutter Speed: 1/40
f/stop: 3.2
ISO: 800
Lens: 16-35L
Focal Length: 16 mm
Metering Mode: Pattern
White Balance Temp: 5500 K
Exposure Adjustment: 0.00

#9 - On Table goodies from the reception - did I mention I love on table chocolate goodies :)

#10 - A couple of the couple on their bubble exit!

#10 - Grandma hiding in the Limo and popped out when the couple opened up the door to jump in. Quite a funny moment for everyone since Grandma hid the event to everyone including the Limo driver! Look at the Attitude of the bride - she laughed after wards but was quite lost at first seeing Granny!

Thanks for the walkthrough on the bridge shot - it's one of the trademark Tricoast shots, and I spend hours deconstructing your style way back when.

There's a problem with the tutorial. You need a technically good and even better artistic image to start with, two of which everyone will have a hard time to get before being able to get it to the look & "feel" of TriCoast

Isn't that venue in Crosby? the country club? I've taken that bridge shot a few times, I've had two weddings out there. It's a beautiful set up. Great PP on that shot.

I agree, come on Mike, that's not a tutorial, you are bating us with this one.

The key to that photo is the ability to spot the location, direct the B&G and setup the camera/flash.

The post processing is nice but it would be hard to mess up the processing on a shot with that sort of potential.

Great capture by the way.

3 years, wow. Some marriages don't even last that long.

Hey Mike, I'd love to see the father's tears like you described when he first saw his daughter in her wedding dress... sounds like a wonderful moment!
