I would like to welcome the Woodlands Photo Club as being the first to come on board and become a part of TexasPhotoForum.

This section will be dedicated to the Woodlands Photo Club so that the club officers and club members can discuss upcoming meetings, questions about speakers and last meetings etc. This section will be a great tool for the Club as a whole and will also help introduce more people to both the WPC and as well to TPF so it is mutually beneficial.

Autumn Teesdale aka DangerouslyMoody is the current club president so I'll let her chime in and formally introduce herself as well as the other club officers.

2008 Woodlands Photo Club Officers
President: Autumn (aka DangerouslyMoody)
Vice President: Pam (aka fstop)
Advisor: Susan (aka arcproducts)
Treasurer & Secertary: BeaAnn
Webmaster & Publicity: Cecilia (aka cecygarcia)
Advertising: Melinda

Thanks again for coming on board and I can't wait to see how your members take advantage of this new section.

Hi everyone! Is this where we introduce ourselves? I didn't see a thread where we can do this, and I think it's a great idea, so here goes: I'm a high school art and photography teacher with a background in graphic design. I've had a passion for art my entire life but didn't get into photography until I took my first class after high school at a community college. I had a great drawing instructor who encouraged me to take her photography course, and later encouraged me to study graphic design. I got my first 35mm SLR (Pentax K1000) for Christmas before the photo class began and was hooked. I eventually earned my BFA in Advertising & Graphic Design from Sam Houston. I graduated in May '01, during a time when the market became saturated with "graphic designers" and had little luck finding a permanent full-time job. Then 9/11 hit and the economy took a nose dive and there were absolutely no leads for a few months. I began substitute teaching and liked it so much I decided to get certified. After six years of teaching, I feel everything worked out perfectly. I have great hours and generous holidays, including summers off, which allow me to work on my art. I'm currently trying to rebuild my portfolio and get gallery representation. However, this has been very challenging while juggling work with family (married w/2 boys). I have a hard time finding the time to work on a web page or even upload images to a gallery! That'll soon change, as I'm bound & determined to make it work. :)

As far as favorite subjects to shoot, I have eclectic tastes and enjoy a variety of things, but my favorite elements are texture & contrast, which determine my next subject. If I have to put a label on myself, I would go with "fine art photographer." I do, however, love shooting live bands and performing artists, capturing the energy of the artists with the dynamic lighting and movement. Currently, I'm shooting with a Nikon D80 and love it.

Finally, I would also like to announce that I am the Field Trip Coordinator for 2009, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know and I will work to get them on the calendar.

Happy Shooting,
Caryn
