Nice photos. The lens has a lot to do with the quality of the pictures. Probably more than 50%.
Megapixels really are overrated. You didn't say how many you have. Beyond 6 or 8, you reach a point of diminishing returns. Many folks still say that 6 BIG mp sensors are better than 12 tiny MP sensors. Packing more and more pixels on the same size sensor is overkill and degrades the image.

Instead of a megapixels race, we need a dynamic range race. Alas, the lowest common demonitor consumer wouldn't know dynamic range from hyperfocal distance. The ISO race, at least in full frame sensors, seems to have gone plenty far enough. Small sensors still suffer at ISO 400.

Marketing Mumbo Jumbo trumps photo quality everytime.

re the megapixel discussion...my personal, and very limited... experience thus far with my Sony A350 14 mgp camera doesn't agree. Remember that I shoot 99% in daylight, with relatively well-lit subjects.

I don't argue nor doubt the facts of more mpg equals added noise in low-light situations. I don't disagree that better lenses make better pictures...but...???

I've reposted the two shots with a more appropriate explanation under the title Zooooming on up..18-250 does its job.

regards, Rich
