OK MEMBERS !!!!!!
This saturday - 1/17 - field trip to 1940 Air Terminal Museum....... http://www.1940airterminal.org/
I have never been but this is my cup of tea. I love this kind of stuff. There is a $10 charge which includes lunch for us. And we are carpooling from the library parking lot. Check our website for more details. http://www.woodlandsphoto.org
We had a TON of new members at our meeting last night --- so if you are interested in getting your photo skills in high gear, then come on out and join us. This is a perfect way to meet new people and ask questions about how to do certain things with your gear.
WHO ELSE is planning on going ???? I can't wait. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

You need to have this trip again after Football is over and why not on a Sunday, some of us work on Saturdays and this week in very very big if you have any pulse for the football season which is working out to be one the best in years.
I really would like to go and the price is right, just the day and date, Why not set some of the trips with two dates espcially since many do fill.

Darn it. This is the second one that I can't attend. It must be a conspiracy! Grinning.
ps: Photography is more important than football. You can record football on a DVR.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh - the ole football great season trick eh??? well, we can't possibly plan every detail. some of these trips get planned MONTHS in advance. with an active club like ours we can't just pick a day on a calendar a few weeks out.
members are welcome to come to our board meetings. we always need help planning out some field trips, and comments and suggestions are always welcome - anytime.
i have forwarded your comments to our new president to be discussed at the next board meeting.
regarding the day of the week. most trips are planned on saturdays, and some do get planned for sundays. we have been known to have a trip or two during the week to accomodate the unusual venue that serves us best that way, and also meet the desires of alot of retired/semi retired folks.
as far as field trips 'selling out' and filling up ----- that rarely happens. but the idea to book an identical trip later in the year is certainly something to think about.
keep the good ideas coming ---- maybe someone should start a new thread 'GOOD IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS'...................
OK ---- So anymore takers for those going this Saturday ????

I would love to attend most of the Saturday events and Football is not the prime reason I can not attend. I work in the auto sales industry. A year ago I would have taken the day off. This year however Saturday is a day which is the only day which has any traffic at all. The numbers on our industry are off more like 50 to 60% and I am lucky I sell a brand that is German and a bit less affected by the same issues that the American and Asian brands have experienced. There are several trips that I would have already attended, The Battleship and others, just can not do Saturdays and anyone in any type of retail sales would probably have the same issues. I will set my DVR anyway!

This sounds like a great trip, but, unfortunalely, I have another commitment for Saturday. I think the idea of having some of the trips scheduled twice in a year is good, but would really depend on the level of interest. I haven't seen that many field rrips lately that were full despite the large membership we now have.
For those going, enjoy the trip!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND -- post some photos right away so we can all see the fun we missed!!!!!!!!!

posting photos is a MUST ---- at least one or two from each of us. I have been looking forward to this trip since last year. The date got moved a couple of times and then just cancelled toward the end of the year, as they closed the facility for a short while to complete some area specific renovations that included asbestos remediation..... yikes. but that is all done, and i THINK - but not certain that some restoration is still going on - which actually makes for some interesting photo ops.

I was just thinking, I've never been there and I wonder what focal length lenses would be best to bring with my 5D...Ben

Ben, I wish I had a 12mm or 14mm --- so I will just have to have fun using my 10.5 fisheye instead. I will use my macro for some other fun shots. I soooooooo wish I had a 12mm or 14mm for regular wides though. But then again why stop there, 85mm and 105 would be nice for my bag too. LOL
Go to the air terminal website, you can see it is a separate building. There are large rooms and staircases from what I can see. Also, you might want to do a search here on tpf for 1940 air terminal or hobby airport or something like that . There are other tpf'rs that have gone - when the restoration was in the early phases AND they posted their pics. They got some COOL, rough and tumble kind of shots.
My heart is pumping real fast just thinkin' about this shoot.

I went to the Terminal a few weeks before it shut down. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the images here so I can see how much they've restored.
