Keep in mind, we can’t possibly do EVERYTHING, but at least it is a place to gather ideas for the club. SPEAK UP fellow photogs …… it's the only way we know what YOU want.

Can we do something with blue bonnets this season?
Anybody know a good place, or something for wide angle landscapes in general?

Since we don't have mountains here, spectactular landscapes can be hard to come by.

Tks.

Dennis - a couple of years ago, we did a field trip in the early spring (bluebonnet time) up to the brenham/chappel hill area - to ANTIQUE ROSE EMPORIUM and then spun off from there and did some bluebonnet shots in the area....... it was a little hard, since we had multiple cars ... and THAT particular year, the bluebonnets were - shall we say - less than spectacular. But since the trips are planned weeks and sometimes months in advance it is a gamble .... but we went and were disappointed.

Would you like to start checking into some places that would be good for that and maybe come to the next board meeting and run with the details of the field trip????

Will table the idea at next board meeting.

Thanks for starting the list, Susan!! Here are a few ideas I have:

Field Trips -

Mercer Arboretum - I've been there a few times by myself, but it would be fun to have others around to talk about composition, lighting, etc.

Brazos Bend State Park - A long drive and lots of walking but a great place for wildlife.

Workshops -

I like your idea about Nikon Software - in particular, CaptureNX and ViewNX

Landscape photography

Architectural Photography

Macro Photography

I'll try to submit others as I think of them.

Great suggestions, everyone! SO, Autumn, I'm assuming you'll be at my mixed media workshop? Cool! Music is a great inspiration for these projects and I suggest bringing an ipod or lyrics for your piece. I will start looking into the Antique Rose Emporium. Anyone have an idea on the date? The Bluebonnet Festival looks fun too. I'll get those on the calendar soon. I'll put the Arboretum on the calendar as soon as it warms up a bit. This will be an easy one because it's so close. I'm excited! Oh, and be sure and send your workshop suggestions to Vu. We did talk about a Nikon/software WS at the last board meeting, I believe.

Cindy - good suggestion, the OLD BAYLOR COLLEGE is just around the corner from the Rose Emporium - which is a good 'bluebonnet' time of year type of trip. ALOT of photo op stuff at that location - ( OBC )

Thanks for the input.

How about a speaker or workshop on websites. Maybe someone from SmugMug, they are a TWF sponsor and seem very active on the forums.

I'm not a member of Woodlands photo club, but I do read the newsletter some. I hope it's ok to post here.
I would like to see pictures taken in The Woodlands area, with the location posted that it was taken at. I know that there are lots of places to shoot in the area, but I have run out of ideas.

Rachel,

It's fine to post here =) As for locations, my best advice to you is get in your car and drive around a bit in the area. The Information Center (on Woodlands Pkwy, shortly after you enter The Woodlands) has maps of the area available. Then go find places that suit your style! There are so many cool places here, and in Spring too! Have you looked around Old Town Spring? There are some nice places there as well. Best of luck . . now go drive while gas prices are still fairly low! ;)
