Mercer Gardens & Arboretum - 03-20-2009, 04:51 PM

Lets use this thread to post your photos from our March 20 "First day of Spring" visit to Mercer Gardens and Arboretum. For those who did not attend today - because you had to work or had something better to do - we had great weather and lots of flowers in bloom!

I'll start with a few of my shots. All of these were taken with the Nikon D300 and 105mm Micro-Nikkor lens. I enjoy feedback, so please tell me what you think.

Add your photos in reply messages so we can see a lot of the other shots taken today.

Hey Don, nice shots! I got to the arboretum later in the day around 1. Here's a few that I took with a D700 using Nikon 24-70 and 70-200 lenses.

Nice shots, Barry! Sorry we missed each other. I left a little after noon. There was so much to shoot I didn't even see those golden yellow flowers you shot.

There were 6 or 7 more people out there! Let's see some more shots!

Alrighty .....

I will play too, but confess up front that MY photos were taken just over a year ago and not on the club trip.

MOST were taken with my new lens at the time 50 1.8. I was serious about playing with depth of field. Tried to include a little variety in this upload. And ............ as I did a quick process on them, felt a little sassy and did a one pass sharpening of 6-12....... livin' on the edge I tell ya !!!

Don and Barry, nice shots you both got. Wish I had been able to make the trip, I was out of town at the time. And yes, I want to see more photos from the trip too, so come on peeps, POST YOUR SHOTS !!!!!!!!

Nice shots, Susan! Interesting DOF study you were doing. I really like the great bokeh in the first 2 shots! Maybe I do need that 50 f1.8 I've been thinking about!

Fabulous shots, everyone!
Don: Thanks for starting this thread. Your lens rocks! I think I have the same shot as the 2nd on you posted of the bluebonnets! Thanks for letting me play with it.
Barry: Sorry we missed you, and I'm sorry I missed the lizard! We did, however, see a snake basking, but his head was hiding and I could get a good angle.
Susan: I love the fuzzy flowers, and of course the selective focus.
Everyone: It's neat how everyone can see the same thing a little differently and get completely different angles. My memory chip is at home, but I will add my pics asap. Thanks for sharing!

Don't forget to email your images to Mike so he can make a field trip gallery on the web site. He will do this if there submissions from at least three members.
