I attended this two day workshop on Glamour/Fashion Photography & Photoshop and I was very pleased with the entire weekend.
Saturday - Shooting in Studio
Saturday's shoot was great. I learned a lot about setups and the lighting and having a chance to work with people on posing etc was a major plus. I feel much more confident in getting people to pose in such a way that looks good in camera.
The shooting portion of the workshop was held at
Studio 610 which had plenty of room for us 15 or so photographers 4 models and 4 different sets. The location had plenty of room for us to spread out and work while not getting in someone else's way.
This was the first workshop setting Ive attended in which we were broken up into groups by skill level. I think it worked out REALLY well. the newer shooters got more one on one attention and us that had a littler more experience got to experiment and bounce ideas off of each which we learned a lot from.
All in all I think Tracy has found a great combination that works in regards to workshops... Having a newer photog lumped in with more experienced guys can be very intimidating and I am sure because of that they might not learn much from a class... This format Tracy has in place keeps situations like that from happening. I heard nothing but positive reviews from attendees while talking to them about the workshop and what their thoughts were etc.
Sunday - Photoshop Class
The Photoshop portion was help at a class room at a local museum in the museum district. The classroom had plenty of seating available and plenty of electrical outlets for all of us photo geeks to plug in our notebook computers. Next time I'll bring a sweater! I froze my rear end off... I'm never wearing shorts to a workshop again. hehe Lesson learned.
Sunday's Photoshop class was amazing! It was definitely worth the price of admission in itself. I got to sit there and watch both Tracy and Brian completely edit several images from scratch and the tips, techniques and tools they used were completely revealed. No secrets. I now have many more more tips and tricks to add to my ever growing repertoire of Photoshop editing and retouching. Man they made it look so easy...
Final Verdict
I highly recommend Tracy's workshops to anyone that may be considering it. Also if it's a two day event be sure to not miss out on the Photoshop portion. That will help you take those images you took on Saturday to a completely different level!
